A specialized technique that decongests tissue, can cause a deep relaxed state promoting healing and wellness through our immunity system. Lymph vessels throughout the body propel lymph flow; transporting substances (i.e. proteins, toxins, hormones, nutrients, fatty tissues, white blood cells) and processing them. Lymphatic Drainage is a very light technique (much is done with 5 Grams of pressure-the weight of a nickel) using fingertips, and flat hands, repeatedly stretching/sliding the skin superficially across lymph nodes.
There are many health contraindications (reasons NOT to have Lymphatic Drainage Therapy done). It is not safe for everyone. A detailed Health Information Intake Form must be filled out for me to decide if you are a candidate for Lymphatic Drainage. It is important to be thorough and honest with filling out extra water 2-4 days before the session to prepare the system for cleansing. Don't force yourself to drink so much water that you are uncomfortable, increase the amount slowly. Eat light the day of your appointment. Avoiding chemically processed foods and eating fresh fruits and vegetables is recommended. Women will wear a bra and underwear or 2 piece bathing suit during the session. Men will wear briefs and shorts. The abdomen and where the legs join the body at the groin area are part of the Lymphatic Drainage Therapy areas. It is possible to work over the sheet at sensitive areas.
Initially I will offer a 15 minutes session for $30, or a 20 minute session for $60. It can also be a 15 minutes add on to a Swedish Massage or Deep Tissue Massage for the extra $30 fee. There are many levels of training for Lymphatic Drainage. I will be taking Lymphatic Drainage Level 2 in the near future and may then offer a 60 minute session for $120. Stay Tuned!
